Well, at first, if I was not told this was Atryl, I never would have guessed. I'm used to the more lighthearted style he uses for MLP drawings. However, theose are extremely good drawings as well. That being said, I thought, before seeing the signature, that this was a bit of concept art for HotS (Possibly a mutation I thought I heard about early in development)

Vision:
It looks like the level of art you would find in exclusive concept art books for SC2, or HotS. Extremely detailed, colorful, and just beautiful overall. (And sporting Centrifugal Hooks, if I'm not mistaken.)

Originality:
A lot of banelings do seem to get drawn, however, the main bulk of SC2 Art seems to lie in Protoss and Terran campaigns, with the main zerg unit for art seeming to be the Hydralisk.

Technique:
Shading, color, texture, details, all amazing. This baneling looks ready to mess up a squad of marines' day. Sporting the almost "exposed" muscle look that many link with the zerg, and starting from the largest details (the appearance of the chemical sacs ready to burst), to the smallest (the centrifugal hooks, which turn it from a fearsome, though slow, beast of destruction, to a speedy rolling ball of death and population loss.)

Impact:
Personally, I love the Zerg. I love them enough to have their army symbol permanently etched into my body, and I'm always on the look for art pertaining to this race of fear. This work is, by far, near to, if not the absolute top of the list. A magnificent job, on a fearsome cog in the Zerg race's war machine.
